Hell-o there.
I'm Tiff, and you may know me and my art from a few different places. And that's ok.
I spend my days designing custom artwork for others at 717 Tattoo in Highspire, Pa. And the rest of my free time designing and painting glass for myself.
These two art forms can seem wildly dissimilar, but they both hold a special place in my heart. I've been creating custom tattoos for over 25 years. And in that time I have always tried to create designs that combine the best aspects of my client's ideas with the depth of my technical skills to accomplish works that will bring them joy for years. I believe that each tattoo is unique and an intimate expression of the person who wears it - but clients are not canvases. My respect for their bodily autonomy doesn't permit me to experiment the way I would on a canvas. Mistakes are not an option, and there is no erasing or painting over a poor design choice.
I am proud of that body of work - but something was missing for me personally. I needed another outlet - something different enough from my daily job to prevent burnout. Something slow, methodical. Something that would allow me to explore all of my feelings, my questions, my curiosities - something just for myself. Something where I could make mistakes and learn the lessons those mistakes offered me.
A chance encounter with the artist Kenneth Leap introduced me to the art of glass painting. I had no idea such a thing existed - and I certainly had no idea how many possibilities it held for me. Inspired, I spent months pouring over books and experimenting in my studio. My progress was slow at best - until another artist named Debora Coombs opened her studio to me. A week spent with her in Vermont helped me realize that glass was so much more than a medium, it was light. And what could be more amazing than painting with light?
Sincerely,
Tiff George
I believe that every tattoo is special, and that each tattoo should be as unique as the person it adorns. Please respect the people who wear the tattoos you see on this site by not copying them. A good artist will be happy to help you discover your own unique design.
If you'd like to start planning a new piece, please see my contact page for information on appointments and consultations. I enjoy tattoos of all sizes and my books are always open to new clients.
Most Sincerely,
Tiff George
